This video briefly touches on three things:
- Plain Text and HTML Über-Combo!
- Introduction to Open Rates
- Introduction to Split Testing
The first portion is probably the most “hidden” concept - while obvious after you know about it… very few actually take advantage of the technique I share.
When doing the Plain-HTML Über-Combo, you MUST enter additional code for any links to become active.
Let me explain.
If I were to send an email by Plain text ONLY - if I typed in “http://www.RestaurantRevolution.com” the email reader would automatically pick that up and create a click-able link.
HOWEVER, if I just typed in that same web address into an HTML email, it is NOT live by default! You must select the text to be linked and click the “link button” in your email broadcast program. Then enter the URL to be active.
Side note: I recommend KEEPING the native URL when sending links by HTML.
That means, I keep “http:///www.RestaurantRevolution.com” as what shows to the reader… instead of linking standard text like this: Restaurant Revolution — notice the URL does not show! That’s EXACTLY how it looks to your readers. Keeping the native URL as what shows makes it possible for EVERYBODY to know what you’re trying to link to (in case they only have a plain text email program).
If your head just blew up: bookmark this page and when you start getting into the email stuff more, reference what I said. If you have questions, just comment below and I’ll reply.
The next few secrets are less technical, so hang in there!
Nathan
